Eastie Week is a celebration of the rich, vibrant, and resilient community of East Boston – its people, history, culture, music, and art. This year we’re delighted and honored to announce the Eighth Annual Eastie Week celebration. Stay tuned for an updated schedule of FREE and low-cost, family-friendly community-led activities hosted by East Boston organizations and partners.

Kick off Eastie Week with a fun, family-friendly event uplifting the work of Eastie environmental justice organizations. Free and open to all, including free elote for the first 75 people from the Veronica Robles Cultural Center's Elotes Locos--a youth-run elote bike. Plus a Bicycle Beats performance from Ideas Not Theories, gardening activities for all ages from The Trustees Boston Community Gardens and Eastie Farm, a mindfulness class in Piers Park with the YMCA, an "ask a garden expert" session, and opportunities to get involved with green space and food access work in the neighborhood.

ZUMIX's annual Walk for Music is back and in person! Come walk with us through East Boston and help us raise money to support ZUMIX's arts and creative programming for young people. The walk will be starting at the ZUMIX office at 260 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA 02128

After a long stretch of virtual programs and work, the time is finally here to celebrate the return to in-person events. The money raised through The Walk for Music makes it possible for ZUMIX to provide high-quality private lessons and group programs to over 1,000 young people each year, so come out to kick off Eastie Week in support of these youth!

Perfect for animal lovers of all ages, this program will provide attendees with an overview of New England Wildlife Center's hospitals and the basics of how a wildlife center operates. EBNHC's bike events at the East Boston Farmers Market on Wednesdays 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM at Central Square Park (across from Marshalls) will be kicking off during Eastie Week and will include free bike repair!  The Boston Cyclists Union will be offering free bike repair and instructions on how to do basic repairs starting July 14 and at every market until September.

A bike raffle for 2 children’s 18” bikes will take place on July 21 at 5:00 PM.  Raffle entries will start on the opening day of the Farmer’s Market (July 7) and continue every market day until July 21.  Visitors are welcome to fill out an entry each week for the bikes! Bike prizes will be on display.

Our Farmers Market is an excellent source for the greens, herbs, fruits, and vegetables of all our traditions: tomatoes, corn and beans, hot peppers and amaranth, yierba mora, and papalo, water spinach and bok choy, pea tendrils, scallions and Asian mustard, collard greens, cilantro, peaches and apples, Italian and sweet Thai basil. There is a $10 fee for event parking at hotel. The event will be a festive way to highlight the many wonderful things about East Boston! This festive event will feature food from more than 30 local Eastie restaurants, live music and dance performances, as well as a raffle. Kick off Eastie Week 2021 with some NEW world-class public art in East Boston! Pangeaseed Foundation's global Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans program returns to East Boston for the second year to bring the oceans to the streets.

Presented in Boston by HarborArts and honorary conservation partner, the New England Aquarium, the project features 10+  new massive murals in East Boston, each with an important message that aims to inspire residents and visitors to foster a sense of ownership and pride for the artworks and our marine natural resources. Come view the creation of the newest Sea Walls Boston murals around East Boston. Artists will be on-site throughout the week working on the latest public art installations produced for the Boston edition of Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans. These murals are being painted for a purpose, to educate and empower our community to become better stewards of our oceans. There will be a total of 17+ murals, painted in 2020 and 2021, to be explored in East Boston during Eastie Week.

Join the Friends of the Boston HarborWalk on a walking tour from Maverick Square to Boston Harbor Shipyard. East Boston’s waterfront has played a pivotal role in the development of the community and promises to do so well into the future. On this tour we’ll walk one important stretch of that waterfront and talk about its history and future possibilities. We’ll learn about ferries and railroads, the 19th century development of a major port facility, and how the waterfront helped make East Boston an attractive home for new immigrants. Along the way, we’ll examine the 21st century challenges the area faces and discuss some exciting plans to meet those challenges.

Join us in Piers Park for a ZUMIX Summer Concert featuring the eclectic, joyful sounds of Kotoko Brass! The band melds the beautifully complex traditional drumming of Central Ghana, the sturdy bass and keyboards of the Caribbean, and the joyous horns of New Orleans to forge a sound the Boston Globe has described as “propulsive, infectious party music.” Members include ZUMIX teaching artists Ben and Brian Paulding.
