Dear friends,
This June has arrived with all the excitement of a typical summer and a chance to travel as we reconnect with our family and friends, with nature, and with our waterfront and Islands. We’re excited to celebrate with you as more of the Islands reopen (join us on Long Wharf on June 26th), and we’re excited that a $100,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation and additional support from DCR’s Summer Nights Initiative have allowed us to expand free access to the Islands as well.
Around the Harbor’s edge, change continues. Our Harbor Use Public Forum this month looks at the Charlestown Harborwalk, from newly opened sections to parts that are still in the idea phase. Meanwhile, the BPDA is hosting two meetings this month that highlight what the future Harborwalk could look like in East Boston, where a new resilience project is being designed at Lewis Mall and Carlton Wharf, and along the Fort Point Channel at 244 – 284 A Street.
Whether you’re celebrating Pride, World Oceans Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, or Father’s Day this month, we hope you’ll bring your joy down to the water’s edge.
See you on the Harbor,
Katherine F. Abbott
