Dear Friends,
Although many of us have spent more time at home than ever before, we are also in a time of great change, some good and some not. One of the great changes we are seeing is people’s increased appreciation and use of the great outdoors for our individual wellbeing, community health, recreation, and just plain fun. With the change in temperature as we head into fall, I’m beginning to understand what my family who moved to Maine already knew, “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.” We don’t need to forgo our favorite places just because the days get shorter and the temperatures get colder!
Remember getting bundled up and going out to play before one of your parents had to drag you in for dinner in the dark? Embrace that spirit today. The wonders of the outdoors and the special joy of our waterfront await no matter the weather. The Harborwalk, the Harbor Islands that are now peninsulas, and all the beautiful public spaces around and on our Harbor are welcoming you all year long. So layer up and take your dog to the beach, grab your kids and go explore some trails, or find a friend who will meet you outdoors to go out to a program or to play. Stay healthy and stay connected to those you love by staying outside with masks and distancing. You will feel closer than ever to what matters most.
We look forward to seeing you on the harbor,
