Boston Harbor Now President and CEO Kathy Abbott said: “All of us at Boston Harbor Now are so grateful to Kevin, Jennifer, and John for stepping up to offer their expertise and energy to help make Spectacle on Spectacle the most fun and inspiring night of the year on Boston Harbor.’’
Organized and hosted by Boston Harbor Now, Spectacle on Spectacle features delicious food and drink crafted by eclectic local chefs and bartenders, energizing performances by local musicians, dancing and networking, and a glorious sunset over the Boston skyline with an enjoyable ferry ride out and back.
Kevin, who also serves as a Boston Harbor Now Trustee, said: “By supporting Boston Harbor Now’s efforts, companies like Vertex Pharmaceuticals play a critical role in preserving and enhancing our city’s harbor and waterfront. We also help ensure that Boston Harbor, its waterfront, and islands remain accessible, inclusive, and resilient in the face of climate change. It’s not just about environmental stewardship; it’s about creating a more vibrant and inviting environment for the community in Boston.’’
Jennifer, a member of Boston Harbor Now’s Board of Advisors, said: “Our harbor brings together visitors from across not just the city, but throughout the state, region, and world. Whether it’s locals stepping out for a refreshing lunch by the water, friends gathering for drinks as the sun sets, or travelers from afar settling in for a weeklong stay, the harbor has become a bustling hub of activity and joy. Seeing how much happiness the harbor brings people–and how it’s become a spot where everyone can come together–is why I want to help keep it beautiful and accessible for all.”
Added John, another Board of Advisors Member: “Boston Harbor Now is our biggest advocate for protecting, restoring, and providing safe and accessible access to the Harbor Islands and waterfront. Everyone spending time in and around Boston Harbor experiences the organization’s positive impacts, including advocating for developers and city and state agencies to work together to ensure waterfront development provides a vibrant, welcoming, resilient harbor.’’
Boston Harbor Now is one of 11 federal, state, city, and nonprofit organizations that make up the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership that oversees the park management for the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park. Boston Harbor Now supports the partnership with year-round promotion and activation of the park by raising funds for:
- free and low-cost access opportunities and programs like concerts, field trips, living history, and theater to invite people to experience the harbor, islands, and waterfront,
- summer outings for students to visit and learn about the islands, for both education and recreation,
- and advocacy promoting sustainable and welcoming development on the harbor, greater climate resilience for the harbor and islands, expanded water transportation options throughout the harbor and protecting designated working-port areas and the thousands of great maritime jobs they support.
