Count down to 2020!

Over a dozen businesses and cultural institutions from Boston’s waterfront neighborhoods have come together for New Year’s Eve on the Waterfront 2020. Together we are making this New Year’s Eve a fun and memorable one.

As a non-profit led initiative, this celebration is a culmination of seven successful years of free and low-cost waterfront programming for residents and visitors across Boston’s waterfront neighborhoods. Click here to support our work.

On New Year’s Eve, Boston Harbor Now is organizing several FREE fun events across the waterfront to ring in the new year such as the Ice Sculpture Stroll to over a dozen sites and other activities from 1:00pm – 4:00pm on December 31, 2019.

  • Enjoy waterfront activities like:
    • Harbor Map Tour at the Boston Harbor Hotel
    • Touch-a-Truck with First Responders at the Envoy Hotel
    • Walking Tour of the Wharf District with the Friends of the Boston Harborwalk
  • Countdown to the new years with the return of New Year’s Eve Midnight Harbor Fireworks.

 

ICE SCULPTURE STROLL

Wind your way down the waterfront through the trail of interactive ice sculptures this New Year’s Eve. Come and see some of your seasonal favorites and some new designs hosted by Boston’s waterfront properties.

New Year’s Eve Activities

Veteran showman Jason Escape will be performing numerous times during the celebration. Watch as Jason, bound in a straight jacket and rope, attempts to escape while suspended upside down, 20 feet above the earth. Jason mixes comedy, escapology, and superb showmanship while dazzling audiences with an amazingly interactive show.

In addition, several musicians will be showcasing their talents throughout the Marketplace and upstairs in the upper Rotunda of Quincy Market.

Blink, the free holiday light and sound show runs now through January 1st at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It features the city’s tallest holiday tree illuminated with thousands of blinking lights that are synchronized to your favorite holiday tunes.

Six songs rotate every half hour from 4:30 – 10 pm nightly. Artists include Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson.

Join The Boston Harbor Hotel as they host a special tour of the hotel's vintage map gallery on New Year's Eve. The map collection includes many great maps of Boston and Massachusetts Bay dating as far back as the early discovery of the new world.

Seaport Common

Seaport has partnered with Creos to bring a new interactive art installation to Seaport Common, Entre les rangs by KANVA.

A tribute to fields of wheat that shimmer in the wind as the season’s pass, Entre les rangs covers Seaport Common with thousands of white crystalline stems topped with white reflectors that capture the rhythm of the surrounding urban space and reflect its life.

Boston Harbor Now, in partnership with the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, the Wharf District Council and the City of Boston, is proud to host New Year’s Eve Midnight Harbor Fireworks for 2020. Ring in the new year with a brilliant display from a barge centered between Long Wharf and Fan Pier. Ideal viewing locations are from Christopher Columbus Park in the North End, Fan Pier in the Seaport District, and from the East Boston Harborwalk.
