From one round trip, Hingham commuter ferry has become ‘a linchpin’

With a new shipyard terminal open and two new catamarans on the way, the MBTA is spending $19 million on the commuter service, which takes thousands of riders to and from Boston each day. Local officials say the ferry is always a part of development talks.
