Dear Friends,
I hope you and your loved ones are in the full swing of summer, whether you enjoyed the return of July 4th at the Hatch Shell, Harborfest on Boston Harbor, or a trip to the Harbor Islands. These are challenging times, and our waterfront can offer respite or a chance to come together in the community.
July is Parks and Recreation Month, and what better time to get out and enjoy our Harborwalk, all of our waterfront parks and beaches, and Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park? As we continue to celebrate the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park anniversaries, we are excited to welcome a host of grant awardees of the Innovation Islands mini-grant opportunity. Groups who are bringing their community-engaged programs and events out to Boston Harbor Islands include Veronica Robles Cultural Center, a Trike Called Funk, and AfroDesiaCity.
We’re also excited to bring back and celebrate the ninth year of Eastie Week, starting on Sunday, July 10th and continuing through July 26th, with over 60 events and programs, led by various partner organizations, for you and your family to enjoy! We’re excited to bring back in-person programs like HarborFit on the Boston Harborwalk, Jazz on the Porch on Spectacle Island, Spectacle Summer Nights, Sunset Lobster Clambakes, and more to make this summer your best one yet! Finally, if you want to try the Seaport Ferry service, join us for a ride at the July 27th Harbor Use Public Forum.
I hope I will see you on the Harbor soon.
