Dear Friends,
Every year, the reopening of the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park feels like an exciting and unexpected gift (and one that keeps on giving!). These early-season weekend trips to Spectacle are not to be missed. Reacquaint yourself with the beaches, trails, and views to take a break and get some perspective on this beautiful harbor we all call home. I can’t wait to pack a towel and picnic and head out for the day. The ferry season for the year has just started, and the full schedule, including trips to Georges Island, begins June 17. Camping is returning to Peddocks Island; reservations open Monday, June 6.
25th & 50th Anniversary celebrations will run all season long with the premiere of new and exciting programs as well as the return of summer classics like vintage Baseball. We have new partnerships with community groups from around the City and the Commonwealth that will bring traditional Lion Dance, music, children’s activities, and more to the islands. Check out the full program schedule on the Park website.
Finally, the Islands and our Waterfront are great places to celebrate Pride Month, Waterfront Wellness Week, Juneteenth, and Father’s Day. And don’t miss the return of Red Bull Cliff Diving on June 4th, as world-class divers leap off the roof of the ICA!
I look forward to seeing you on the Harborwalk, on your local waterfront, and out on the islands. Our season is too short, so let’s not miss a minute of this joyous time to be outside.
