Dear Friends,
As I’m writing this, Boston has just weathered its third major storm in under three months. We’ve witnessed homes and businesses across our region devastated by the effects of coastal flooding in addition to infrastructure buckling under the force and frequency of these storms. The scientific community has been warning us about a future that is now. The weather has been foreshadowing some of the larger, projected climate impacts.
Boston Harbor Now’s team has been actively monitoring the effects of the storms along some of the vulnerable areas of our waterfront and from a higher level, looking at the resiliency plans and multi-scale solutions being produced by the City and State that would help us better respond to coming storms. We look forward to working with others around the harbor to synthesize and implement the best solutions to build a better built, more resilient, exciting and accessible waterfront for all.
