Dear Friends,
I often refer to Boston Harbor as our region’s largest blue and green outdoor classroom. Over the years I have watched every subject, from history to science to art, at every level be taught using the harbor. The harbor is also home to many of our important cultural institutions including the Boston Children’s Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and the New England Aquarium as well as institutions that have opened their doors only virtually including the JFK Library and the USS Constitution Museum. There are historic and natural sites large and small that ring our Harbor with National, State and City parks as well as non-profits and our beloved Harborwalk each with endless opportunities for less structured learning.
We hope that you will come out to learn and play along the miles of open space, participate in fitness classes on Carson Beach and Castle Island, or head over to East Boston to help celebrate Eastie Week with historic tours and beautiful murals. Wear your mask and keep your distance while you enjoy all the fall fun that our harbor has to offer.
Warmly,
Katherine F. Abbott
