BOSTON, Mass. – October 30, 2024 – Boston Harbor Now has announced that its annual Veterans Cruise will visit Peddocks Island for the first time on Saturday, November 9th. The Veterans Cruise is free for veterans, active military, and their families.
For the first time, the Veterans Cruise will visit Peddocks Island, offering guests a unique opportunity to explore Fort Andrews, a part of Boston Harbor Islands’ role in military history. Fort Andrews, named after Major General George Leonard Andrews, an engineer and Civil War commander, was once an active Coast Artillery post that played a significant role in Boston Harbor’s defense system. Along with the tour of Fort Andrews, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place to reflect on those who served our country.
This special cruise is provided to show appreciation to those who have served, connect members of the community with the benefits of the natural resources of the Islands Park, and offer local veterans and active service members an opportunity to spend time with their families enjoying Boston Harbor and the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park.
This program is presented by Boston Harbor Now in partnership with the National Parks of Boston, the Department of Conservation of Recreation, and Boston Harbor City Cruises and with support from the Highland Street Foundation.
