Dear Friends,
And just like that, August comes to a close, and with it the waning of another New England summer. This is a time to look back on all the joys of a season spent outdoors, which were all the more poignant this this year after many days spent apart in earlier phases of the pandemic. This season the waterfront was alive with people reuniting with family and friends, businesses reopening their doors, and people exploring new places and experiences. To celebrate it all, we are overjoyed to bring back the Illuminate the Harbor fireworks show, our signature send-off to summer on the harbor. We hope you’ll join us on the waterfront to enjoy them on Friday night.
It’s also a time to look forward to our plans for September: when the days turn crisp but the water is still warm enough for swimming; when students come back – many of them navigating in-person school for the first time in many months; when many of us turn inward to reflect as the days grow shorter. We hope you’ll continue to use the harbor and waterfront as a place of learning: somewhere to try new things, get fresh ideas, and embrace the “beginner’s mind.” Those looking for a new routine can try one of our many HarborFit offerings such as Trillfit’s Restore class or a mindful retreat with a half-day of Ocean Therapy. You can meet new people at the first ever Soulful Bliss Art & Music Festival on Spectacle Island or simply spend a day exploring the Boston Harbor Islands on your own with fall ferry service to Spectacle Island through early October.
I’ll look forward to learning and growing together on the waterfront.
