Dear Friends,
A walk on the Harborwalk or a visit to the Harbor Islands can be inspiring, restorative, and uplifting. Boston Harbor has influenced countless artists over the years to create paintings, music, photographs, and more. Whether it is a time of turmoil, a moment of ecstasy, or when you need a mini-getaway close to home, the Harbor can serve as a respite and muse.
This month we’re focused on the art being produced and featured on and around the Harbor. Check out this year’s artists in residence as they quilt, write poetry, and reshape narratives as part of our Boston Harbor [re]creation project. You can also visit the Institute for Contemporary Art on the South Boston Waterfront or its East Boston outpost at the ICA Watershed. On Sundays, Spectacle Island will feature jazz on the porch, Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure will be performed along Fort Point Channel, and the Hull Artists are having an Open Studio weekend. You can submit one of your own photos of Boston Harbor to our annual photo contest.
Grab your camera, your paintbrush, your sketchbook, or your musical instrument and head to the Harbor to unleash your creative juices and enjoy all that it has to offer.
See you out there,
